In case you didn’t hear, Jenna Talackova was kicked out of the Miss Universe contest in Canada after it was found out that she was transgender.
She was booted out after the director of the pageant, Denis Davila, had “suspicions that she was not a naturally born female”. Talackova wrote her gender as female on her registration form, but Davila was apparently suspicious of her since she entered and yesterday confronted Talackova about her gender.
Talackova admitted that she was born a boy and that she had sex reassignment surgery years ago. She begged to stay in the contest but to no avail, Miss Universe co-ordinators told her the pageant was for ‘natural females’ only.
"She feels like a real girl and she and the other contestants think of her as a real girl. She didn’t expect people to question it, so now shes devastated." Says Davila. "She was hoping we could put her back in the competition, but the rules are very clear and there’s no way we can go back on it."
